Looking through the news and I found this gem. Swedish Police using a Volkswagen, Mercedes and a Ford Econoline?!?!?!?
V8 American vans FTW!

If I'm not mistaken, they have multiple Econolines.

Strange, I thought they’d use Ford Transits or something.

We don’t have any Econolines in the British police forces as far as I’m aware but the Metropolitan Police in London have Ford F450s/Jankels.

I was wondering about the same thing when I saw the sword attack news. In Finland even authorities have problems getting non-EU market or special vehicles registered.
Couple of years ago our military purchased couple of really expensive armored Land Cruisers. When they were registering them it was noted that the empty mass of the vehicles’ had exceded the maximum allowed mass. So they were sold away (probbaly very cheaply) to some other country where such things can be overlooked.

Swedes seem to love their American cars. I saw more Mustangs & Camaros in a week than I’ve ever seen here.

Someone has to drive the cops around while the Touareg and Merc are in the shop...

They often use these things and I’ve seen them in some kind of American 4wd as well.
EU regulations mean that they are not allowed to favour any particular country’s vehicles when buying but despite that 85% of the cars are purely by coincidence(!) Volvos.

The Econoline is a superior people-mover.
